An Artist’s Full House in Medicine Hat this February
- January 28, 2016
The local Esplanade in Medicine Hat is always teeming with musicians, artists, and actors. There’s always something great on, whether it’s an art exhibition, a play, or a concert. We’ve gathered three of our favourite upcoming events, so whether you enjoy music or theatre, there will be something here for you.
Art: M. Eileen Murray’s Luscious – Until Feb 13
Start off with an art exhibition at the gallery, where an exhibition by M. Eileen Murray is currently underway. Described as “opulent, luscious, and vast,” her pieces almost seem at place both in Versailles and an out-of-the-way coffeeshop. People in both places—and everyone in-between—will find something in these paintings that are sure to both surprise and delight. Learn more here.Music: David Myles – Feb 11
Next, head over to the lobby for some music. The third in the Esplanade Lobby series, David Myles is bringing a timeless combination of contemporary crooners to upbeat jazz numbers, down-to-earth back-porch folk, to even hip-hop numbers. His style is as striking as his classic attire and appearance, leaving audience members enjoying both the music and the classy atmosphere Myles brings with it. Learn more here.Theatre: Shangri-La – Feb 13
Next, head over to the theatre hall where you can enjoy a local production of Shangri-La. Set in 1963, the play follows 14-year-old Jeanne McCate. Surrounded by the drama of her pregnant, underage sister, her drinking father and her irate mother, Jeanne just wants to get to the big dance! Follow this tour of Jeanne’s saviours—pop 45s and her imagination—as this small-town play tugs at your heartstrings. Learn more here.Medicine Hat’s wide variety of entertainment stretches across the scope of the fine arts, from art to music the theatre, so there’s sure to be something for everybody. And when you’re ready to mull over everything you’ve seen and heard, take refuge in our peaceful and tasteful rooms. Book yours today. We look forward to your visit!
